WHAT IS THE SOURCE?
The Source is a semi-professional dance company for graduated dancers aged 17 and over who are looking for an outlet for training and performing with a highly dedicated and talented group of dancers. The Source is designed for those dancers who may be graduating high school, or leaving their dance studio, who are looking for a performance group to continue training and performing with, at a non-competitive level, working towards a professional career in dance.
All Source company members are required and encouraged to continue training in other classes and are welcome to continue attending their own dance studio in addition to The Source.
WHAT STYLE OF DANCE IS THE COMPANY?
The Source focuses on contemporary, jazz, hip hop, improv, street jazz, musical theatre, tap and other various styles of dance throughout the year. Emphasis is placed on jazz technique, lyrical/contemporary, stylized street jazz & hip hop.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Being a Source Company member involves being fully committed to rehearsals, classes and performances from September to mid June. Company members are also required to take additional mandatory classes each week through Harbour Dance Centre.
WHAT ARE THE FEES?
Fees are $395.00 plus GST per month. Dancers receive over 40 hours of class time each month. PLUS: These fees cover the costs of all faculty instructors, studio rentals, promotional material and guest choreographers. Fees are due every month or may be paid in a lump sum. Dancers are committed to completing the entire year of training. No refunds will be granted unless an injury or special circumstance occurs. A one time $250.00 membership fee is due September.
This covers the costs of all props, costumes, insurance, advertising and promotions, theatre rental etc.
Company members must also take an additional 8 classes per month at Harbour Dance Centre (a huge discount is offered to Source Company members of $96 per month for these classes).
As this will be a season like no other, we are hopeful that this group of company members are willing to be flexible and committed, no matter what the restrictions may be! Last season, we ended the last 2 months of the company season with online zoom classes three times per week, and company projects through online assignments of self-filming and creating choreography.
We are hopeful that this season will be able to remain in the studio, but we are also aware that nothing is 100% guaranteed due to Covid-19, and the government restrictions that may be in place throughout the next year. Our main concern is the health and safety of all company members and instructors, and we will do everything in our power to make this our most important priority.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE SOURCE?

The Source will help enhance the skills the dancers already have, focusing on style, attack and a professional performance feel.
