WHEN IS THE AUDITION?
THIS YEAR...WE ARE BACK FOR IN PERSON AUDITIONS!

 

Auditions for The Source Dance Company are held each year at:
Harbour Dance Centre, 927 Granville St, Vancouver BC. www.harbourdance.com. 

Auditions are also held at Groove Street Productions Dance Conventions Tour in Edmonton and Vancouver each Fall.



AUDITION FOR THE 25th SEASON OF THE SOURCE DANCE COMPANY:
IN PERSON AUDITIONS!

Final audition for next season: SATURDAY, JULY 13, 2024

Sign In/ Self Warm Up: 3:30pm
Audition: 4:00-6:00pm

Be prepared for jazz tech/across the floor, a contemporary combo and a hip hop combo.
Please bring a headshot or photo and resume, if you have one.

VIDEO SUBMISSIONS:  

If you are unable to attend the in person auditions, please submit your video by July 13, 2024.

Submissions due date: (Early placement) March 31, 2024.
Submissions due date: (Late placement)  July 13, 2024.

VIDEO AUDITION SUBMISSIONS:
Video submissions must be received prior to JULY 13, 2024.

You are welcome to send video submissions at any time throughout the year if you wish to plan your next season as soon as possible.

Please include a jazz, hip hop and contemporary/lyrical routine (at least 45 seconds to 1 minute of each) as well as technique/across the floor: pique turns, pirouettes, fouettes, jetes, tilts and anything else you wish to include. Show off!

Along with your video submission, please include a short video about you and your dance training, your goals as a professional dancer and your contact information (phone, email). Tell us about yourself!

WHAT IS THE SOURCE?
The Source is a semi-professional dance company for graduated dancers aged 17 and over who are looking for an outlet for training and performing with a highly dedicated and talented group of dancers.  The Source is designed for those dancers who may be graduating high school, or leaving their dance studio, who are looking for a performance group to continue training and performing with, at a non-competitive level, working towards a professional career in dance.
All Source company members are required and encouraged to continue training in other classes and are welcome to continue attending their own dance studio in addition to The Source.


WHAT STYLE OF DANCE IS THE COMPANY?
The Source focuses on contemporary, jazz, hip hop, improv, street jazz, musical theatre, tap and other various styles of dance throughout the year.  Emphasis is placed on jazz technique, lyrical/contemporary, stylized street jazz & hip hop.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Being a Source Company member involves being fully committed to rehearsals, classes and performances from September to mid June. Company members are also required to take additional mandatory classes each week through Harbour Dance Centre.

 

WHAT ARE THE FEES?
Fees are $445.00 plus GST per month. Dancers receive over 40 hours of class time each month. PLUS: These fees cover the costs of all faculty instructors, studio rentals, promotional material and guest choreographers. Fees are due every month or may be paid in a lump sum. Dancers are committed to completing the entire year of training. No refunds will be granted unless an injury or special circumstance occurs. A one time $375.00 membership fee is due September.
This covers the costs of all props, costumes, insurance, advertising and promotions, theatre rental etc.

Company members must also take an additional 8 classes per month at Harbour Dance Centre (a huge discount is offered to Source Company members of $98 per month for these classes).


WHO ARE THE FACULTY MEMBERS?
The artistic director of The Source Dance Company is Joanne Pesusich. Our resident ballet & contemporary instructor is Sarah Brewer Clowes.

 

Assistant directors and mentors include Nadia Rodrigues and Tessa Tamura.

Other guest faculty includes ALEX PESUSICH, CARLO ATIENZA, ROBERTA BIERMAN, ZAC VRAN, SARAH FORMOSA, CORA KOZARIS, CHRISTINA WOODARD, GUS BEMBERY, CHRIS DUPRE, KEIRAN BOHAY, JUSTIN LOPES, PETER D'SOUZA, TESSA TAMURA, CHANEL LACASSE, GREER WHILLANS, CJ DAMASO, SHAY KUEBLER,  HEATHER LAURA GRAY,  SABRINA PHILLIP, FERD TOCOL, LIZ TOOKEY, HEATHER DOTTO,  CHRIS BONUS, SCOTT HISLOP & more. The Source is sponsored by Harbour Dance Centre.


WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE SOURCE?
The Source is designed to create a professional dancer/performer.  The Source will perform in various live performances throughout the year.  Audition opportunities are offered throughout the year to Source members for international performances, commercials, & television shows.  The Source will help enhance the skills the dancers already have, focusing on style, attack and a professional performance feel.  Select members of The Source will be chosen to assist convention instructors on the Groove Street Productions Dance Convention Tour. (www.gspdanceconventions.com) The Source will help create resume boosters, and contacts within the professional entertainment industry here in Vancouver and Los Angeles.


WHEN ARE THE CLASSES/REHEARSALS?
These class times may change, stay tuned......
Wednesdays: (815-10:15pm) Jazz technique and hip hop tech classes.
Thursdays: (8:15-10:45pm) Company tech class combined with the Harbour Dance Intensive Training Program
Saturdays: (4:30-7:30pm) Choreography rehearsal sessions
Sundays: (5:00-8:00pm) Ballet technique and Contemporary,  alternating with hip hop technique and/or various classes.
All rehearsals and classes will be held at Harbour Dance Centre, 927 Granville Street in Vancouver.
